WILLIAM BENSON Art Studio
PORTRAIT SESSION INFORMATION
At the initial meeting and sitting, Mr. Benson begins by assessing the needs and concerns of the client about the picture; its size and proportions, the formality or informality of the setting, and a general overview of the clients vision (if there is one). He draws several compositions until one is found to contain what he feels captures the essence of the sitter as expressed by pose, tilt or turn of the head coupled with a natural and aesthetic placement of the hands. He will then do a fairly concise study of the head, taking approximately 1/2 hour, to gain fuller understanding of the features and character of the sitter while giving the client a clearer understanding of how the light will play across the face. Photographs are then taken which correspond directly with the agreed upon composition and head study as shown in the drawings.
Upon completion of the portrait, the artist will then arrange for a final sitting if this is possible, or send detailed, professionally photographed copies of the work to the client for approval. Once approved, Mr. Benson either ships the portrait or makes arrangements to personally deliver the portrait to the client.
