ABOUT THE ARTIST

William Benson is a Fine Arts graduate of Cornell University. He has continued to educate himself by emulating artists whose techniques he most admires: Raeburn, Rembrandt, Sargent and Beaux
He lives with his wife Sadie in Ithaca, a small town in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of New York. The deep natural beauty of this area has inspired him to reinterpret the landscape in art.
EXHIBITIONS & COLLECTIONS
William Benson’s personal work has been shown in the Rochester Memorial Art Museum, The Arnot Museum in Elmira, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University. In addition to two one-man shows in New York City his work has been hung in dozens of galleries throughout the state of New York. His work is in the collections of clients both national and international.
Mr. Benson’s portraits have been collected by numerous worldwide organizations, colleges, and families. His subjects span the full range of portraiture, fathers, mothers, children and family pets, acclaimed doctors and administrators, CEO’s and judges, college presidents, deans and professors (including his former professor of painting at Cornell).
