Hon. Robert C. Mulvey

This portrait of Hon. Robert C. Mulvey was painted for the Tompkins County Courthouse here in Ithaca and measures a hefty 36″ x 48″ allowing me the luxury of painting almost life sized. When painting the robe I was able to use a 2″ brush which requires loading up with lots of paint. One can see why Sargent had such a great time with those large society paintings – it becomes a real, physical experience.
